Woven in a variety of intricate techniques, its body, wings and legs naturalistically designed, this basket, complete with copper otoshi, can stand on a level surface or hang from the wall. It is based upon an outstanding 1680 Japanese Kakiemon model, which in turn, was derived from Chinese prototypes. This piece is enameled in red and cobalt with yellow accents.
