A dark bronze okimono modeled as a graceful bijin with biwa and plectrum in hand. The bijin is beautifully chiseled with softly rounded face and hands, carefully modeled eyes that catch the light and kimono draping over her body. Hidemitsu chiseled signature cartouche is on the base. This bronze okimono is in excellent condition.

A naturalistically carved and incised wood okimono of two Akita puppies at play, their fur, ears and features beautifully delineated.
The communication between the two is evidenced by their position, the one atop causing surprise in the wide eyes and open mouth of his playmate - the expressions and carving technique defining the charm of

Charming Japanese carved okimono, made of ivory and ironwood, depicting figure of an old man dressed in the formal attire of a samurai leaning over a lantern; his head and hands are carved of ivory as are various decorative rounds on his hakama (pants) and the mon (family crest) on is robes and lantern, signed on the bottom of one sandal, Showa Period (circa late 1940's).

Japanese antique standing figure of one of the Seven Lucky Gods, Jurojin. He is depicted as an old man dressed as a scholar, he leans on a long staff to which a roll (makimono) is affixed, he bears a very sweet but solemn expression, made of pewter, comes with burl wood stand, Meiji Period (1868-1912).

Details: A fine and attractive example of an Edo period gilt wood figure of the Dhyani Buddha Dainichi Nyorai. He is wearing the adornments of a prince denoting his status as supreme amongst the Tathāgatas and is seated in a pose of deep meditation upon a separately fashioned double lotus throne on a hexagonal plinth. Small figure of a tiger, sitting on a rocky base, tail curled around his haunches, his head up as if picking up a scent. Cast in two pieces, but securely mounted. Signed on bottom: Shohoken. Japan, Nagasaki?, Edo period.

This early to mid-1900’s Bizen sculpture is shaped as Hotei, the god of contentment and happiness. He is depicted here carrying a pearl. Excellent condition.

Highly unusual shrine with the image of a horse looking back. The horse has a ‘brocade’ cover over his back and is standing behind a mesh wire fence, the way they would be kept in temple compounds. Polychoromed wood with some gold details. The roof of the shrine is a separate piece. Japan, Meiji period, 19th century.

Very elaborate double-hinged door shrine with the wooden figure of a sitting Amida Buddha, both hands in mudra before him. Behind his head and back a double mandorla. Amida is sitting on a lotus pedestal on top of a multi-tiered base in flower-shaped profile. His garment decorated in fine gold hand painted flower and geometric patterns. All details of the base accentuated in hand painted gold.
