This is a Japanese samurai Ressei Menpo, a Ressei style face mask dated Bakumatsu, at the end of Edo (1850-). A prominent characteristic of the Ressei mask is that it truly has a menacing and fierce look, this menpo has decorative deep creases along nose and cheeks , the mouth is opened widely showing metal gilt teeth , and it has a flared silver moustache and small beard tuft on the lower lip.

A short dagger carried for self-defense, formerly used by men and women of th samurai class. The unsigned blade is in "hira zukuri" form with beautiful wave-like "hamon". The handle encased with shark skin and the lacquer "saya" with aventurine. Condition: blade with traces of time, shark skin with few imperfections. Dimension blade: 10 cm long, total length: 19.6 cm, weight: 102 g.

A semi-sukashi, mokko-shaped iron tsuba inlaid with sentoku in
Heianjo style. Aoi leaves and fine tendrils on both
sides are inlaid in suemon zogan style, the large areas
inlaid with slightly- raised sentoku. (This elegant Heianjo style became
popular during
the Muromachi Period, continuing well into the Edo Period.) This marvelous example of the genre is in very good condition, its minor wear commensurate with
age
and use.

A large and marvelous shakudo and gilt menuki formed as a standing
Kuan Yu with fierce expression and Chinese halberd in hand. The
Chinese general is dressed in intricate, patterned robes of
kaga-inlaid gilt, round helmet on his head. On the reverse, a large
silver rectangular plaque
is incised with the name Suifu in Ibaragi prefecture, the artist's home base - near Tokyo
This striking menuki is in excellent condition; minor wear to the gilt commensurate with age and use.

An Owari style, iron tsuba expertly modeled as a crane with outstretched
wings, its body pierced in the ko-sukashi style (negative silhouette).
The mimi, edge of the tsuba, is shaped as the bird's plumage, the eyes inlaid
with gold, both providing immediate identity to this beautiful and
recognizable
motif in Japanese art. No restoration or damage, only minor
signs of wear consistent with age.

This is a Japanese samurai Hanpo (Menpo), half mask dated Bakumatsu, at the end of Edo (1850-).
It is Tetsuji , iron mask with 4 Tare, 4 layers of neck gurad. A lacquered half, forged with scalloped edges on the cheeks and a protruding chin.
The back of mask is decorated with Shu, red color.It has a hole to drain perspiration.
Some areas have cracks on the lacquer, and there are some chipped , worn spots and it does not come with codes to tie anymore.

A classical Mino Goto School daisho tsuba set of mokko-form worked in relief
with scrolling peony vines and playful shishi in overlaid gilt and shakudo
on a finely grained nanako ground. The daisho tsuba are presented in a
custom-made
wooden display box with silken pillows and fitted lid. The tsuba set is in
excellent
condition-an exquisite addition to any collection.
