Elegant pair of bronze buddhist temple altar lamps. Nicely executed bronze lattice work on the panels and rounded lines and beautiful patina. Late Taisho Period C.1925. We can add electric light source to each lamp upon request. H: 12" x diameter:7". Condition very good. Minor dent on top of one lamp (see pictures.) Ask for shipping quote.

A simple yet refined lovely bronze rabbit ornament by Nihashi Yoshihira (1896-1977), who was a prestigious metal carving artist from Meiji to Showa period. Some of his works are included in the Khalili collection of London. He was a pupil of Unno Bisei, one of the great metalwork artists around late Edo to early Meiji period, whose artwork was highly evaluated at Paris Exposition of 1889.
