A pair of bronze and multi-metal coupes sculpted in distinctive form with dark, textured surface. The two vessels are designed on a bed of vines and maple leaves from which forest creatures such as centipedes, wasps, frogs and snails crawl at leisure. These unusual and charming coupes exhibit wonderful craftsmanship and illustrate Japan’s sensibility toward nature in all its forms. Gilt inserts are marked with Japanese numerals 4 and 7 on bases. It is finely covered with a magnificent chisel work over extremely detailed fox's body. the okimono has an original dark-green-brown patina.
