A pair of bronze and multi-metal coupes sculpted in distinctive form with dark, textured surface. The two vessels are designed on a bed of vines and maple leaves from which forest creatures such as centipedes, wasps, frogs and snails crawl at leisure. These unusual and charming coupes exhibit wonderful craftsmanship and illustrate Japan’s sensibility toward nature in all its forms. Gilt inserts are marked with Japanese numerals 4 and 7 on bases. Excellent condition with no loss.

A bronze vase naturalistically modeled as a bamboo culm by the Meiji Period metalwork master, Kyoto-based artist Jomi Eisuke. Jomi was known for his seamlessly hand-beaten copper technique and for fine, meticulous relief work. One of a kind magnificent cast and finely hand- carved Japanese Meiji Period 91868-1912) heavy bronze vase with two handles with dragon's heads with open mouths and tongues. There are two extremely fine c arved dragons on both sides of the vase, two finely carved low- relieved scenes with paradise birds on front and back sides of the vase, and three-dimensional relieved flowers. The bottom part of the vase has low-relieved ornaments. It has an original green-gold patina.

Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) Bronze multi-metal inlaid Vase with two dragon-shaped handles. The Vase has magnificent low relieved and inlaid panels. The front of the vase depicts a scene of low- relieved and finely carved peacock on a tree branch, with inlays of shakudo, shibuichi, silver and gold, surrounded with shakudo leaves and gold and silver flower blossoms.
