A beautifully crafted olive-bronze vase of unusual square design etched at the shoulder with silver frets under the circular rim. The vessel stands on four square feet, also an unusual feature. It is more than 12 inches (31 cm) tall and in fine condition, dating from the 19th century.
A tai, symbol of congratulations (for its name is a synonym for the word) swims through roaring waves on this exquisitely cast heavy bronze dish signed on the reverse and enclosed in a custom made kiri-wood box. The orange peel texture absorbs light, and focuses our attention on the glistening gold and shakudo inlayed eyes. Large Japanese bronze long-handled “kagami” (mirror) decorated with a traditional "shochikubai" design featuring the "three friends" (pine, prunus, and bamboo) together with cranes and a turtle. Japanese bronze two-section tripod usubata used in ikebana flower arranging. This traditional form usubata, crafted from heavy bronze, has three legs topped with ogre heads and two decorative scrolled handles at the sides of the body. Meiji period (early 20th century). The usubata stands 9 ¼” high and the removable top section measures 10 5/8” diameter. Very good overall condition with good patina and signs of use evident. This piece is from an old Tucson, Arizona estate.
Bronze vase titled fish by Kyoto artist Shoko enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is covered in an unusual purple and red patina mixed with tarnished silver. The vase is 10 inches (25 cm) tall and in perfect condition.

Japanese bronze/champleve vase, decorated with two bands of enamel in rust-red, light blue, turquoise, cobalt, green and white design of dragon. There is an old four character mark on the bottom. Size is 12-1/2" high by 8" diameter, and weighs 4.8 lbs. Condition is very good, with no damage or repairs. Age is circa l900, late Meiji.
Japanese cast bronze lantern, decorated with two bands of champleve/cloisonne on the base and one band on the top. The bands have designs of chrysanthemums and leaf style of cobalt blue, red, green, pink, white, rust-brown, and black on a light blue ground. Japanese Edo Period bronze portable and collapsible candle stand. The base opens up to a tripod stand and the central staff consists of 3 bendable sections. The bobeche, or drip catcher is incorporated into the tripod stand when not in use. 13" tall and 5 1/4" deep when standing and 6" wide and 4 1/2" high by 1/2" deep when collapsed.
