This is a globular shaped Japanese lacquer kogo – covered box – with a lovely decoration in mixed lacquer techniques. The bottom is flat so as to prevent it rolling. This a a very handsome miniature Japanese lacquer kogo – covered box – that has an unusual shape in that it is an oblong oval with two curved indented sections in two sides that give it a striking appearance. The entire kogo has a nashiji sprinkled gold base – known as pear skin – and then there are low relief makie flowers on the tops and sides. The base and inside are solid nashiji gold lacquer.
