Absolutely stunning and remarkably well cared for, is this visual plethora of scenes of a flowering prune tree and perched bird. The top portion of this Japanese treasure box exhibits a atmospheric scene of a placid lake with a boating scene. All hardware is silver plated and original. This wood and lacquer treasure box dates to the early Meiji period circa 1870's and is dated according to the type ornate locking mechanisms here shown. Size: 7.5" high and 8.5" wide.

Wooden panel, presumably keyaki, inlaid and mounted with pieces of wood and stagantler in the shape of a celestial dragon, surrounded by islands of clouds. The pieces are mounted partly with the help of nails. The inlay in the upper left corner is engraved with the name Ichiryu. No craftsman with that name is known to have been working in stagantler.
