Beautiful Japanese antique todana (storage tansu chest), made with keyaki (elm) wood front with gorgeous grain, 2 large compartments with sliding panels, the sliders of middle compartment have nice wooden open lattice work, interior has one shelf, on the bottom is a horizontal row of 3 drawers with iron warabite shaped drawer pulls, the side of the chest has wonderful wooden cross bracing, from the Tokyo area, Meiji Period (1868-1912).
Size: 48" high x 47" wide x 23 1/4" deep.

Japanese antique single section todana tansu (shelf chest), made with beautiful keyaki (elm) wood panels and drawer fronts, framed in hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood, original deep brown lacquer finish, gorgeous grain, iron moko shaped drawer pulls, 3 compartments covered by sliding panels, pretty latticework on middle sliders, series of 5 small drawers on the bottom, from the Kanto (Tokyo) area, late Meiji Period.

Japanese antique choba tansu (merchant's chest), made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood with lovely deep honey color finish, 2 long drawers on top, sliding panels with horizontal slats, interior right hand side has 3 small drawers with iron hardware matching that of the outside drawers, left hand interior is open compartment, on the bottom are 2 medium sized drawers, all iron hardware with hirute shaped drawer pulls, late Edoi Period (mid 1800's).

Large Japanese 2 section butsudan (Budhist shrine for household use), made all of wood and keyaki veneer with beautiful grain, interior doors have latticework of phoenixes, inside has electric hanging lanterns and lighted ceiling, ornate metal work of phoenixes cover the last set of interior door which open by electric switch.
Circa 1960.

Handcrafted of cedar or cypress wood, this vintage Japanese kamidana miniature shrine has architectural features found on larger Shinto shrines and is dated “Showa 2 nen” (1927) on the back.
