Japanese bamboo flower basket with red lacquer on the rim, bottom and handle, woven of split bamboo. The part of upper handle is woven trebly. The little lacquer paint is coming off in some places by old age, but it is good condition and old taste. It is one of master works from Meiji period. Measurements about : 37cm wide and 42.5cm tall.

The size of Takara-Tsuchi: 5 1/4" Long x 3 3/4" Wide x 2 5/8" High. Beautiful Japanese Wooden Takara-Tsuchi with tassles. Takara-tsuchi(treasure mallet, hammmer) is made from Keyaki or other wood. This large elegant vintage Japanese flower basket (“hanakago” or “hanaire”) has been very finely plaited and woven with thin strips of split bamboo. Dating to the early 20th century, the bamboo handle is marked with a three-character signature of noted artisan “Chikuyosai." It was crafted in round tapered form with meticulous and minute weaving. DESCRIPTION: An early 20th C. Japanese bamboo ikebana basket with tall handle, four short feet and fitted solid copper lining. This double weave basket has a horizontal under-weave and a parallel diagonal outer weave which forms a star pattern. Two parallel bands with a center diagonal pattern decorate the rim. The size of Basket: 11.2"W X 8"D X 10.8"H. This basket is made by Japanese bamboo. It works of elaborate workmanship. It came with original antique printed cotton pouch, made of stylish Wa-sarasa ( Japanese chintz ) cloth. It Wa-sarasa is called "Ko(old)-sarasa", made in Meiji era 1868-1911.
