Masterpiece glass work made by Kyohei Fujita. This museum quality piece is A hand-blown pink glass box and cover rimmed with silver metal including beautiful falling flower motif on impressive gold and silver leaf decoration, titled Hanafubuki, a shower of cherry blossoms. In Japan, Hanafubuki is a season word depicting the spring season originated from cherry blossoms falling in the wind. DESCRIPTION: A fine smoked reed basket in a graceful ovoid form, woven in an open pattern with horizontal reed bands. The basket is complemented by a bent bamboo handle with a butterfly knot centered at the top, and is firmly secured to the basket on each side with three-prong woven supports. Signed by the artist on the base, this basket was in a private Georgia collection since 1975; collector’s catalogue stickers can still be seen on the base. This early 1900’s large Hagoita is exquisitely crafted in rich silks of the 7 lucky gods. They are seen here in their treasure boat decorated with all the auspicious symbols for longevity, including the minogame turtle, the dragon, the crane and the kotobuki symbol for happiness. The back is hand painted with a sunset scene of sails, flying birds, mountains and pine trees. There is a Mitsukoshi label on the side, a store associated with its fine textiles. Very good condition.

A tall and quite dramatic Japanese ikebana basket crafted of a reddish bamboo, the inner layer woven in a tight herringbone pattern and the outer layer composed of wide vertical bamboo strips added for vertical strength. These wide strips have been split at the tops and woven back down into the basket in projecting V-shaped patterns. Three twisting yellow bamboo twigs form the handle.
