A very rare mustard yellow pottery shrine from the southern Japanese Island Kingdom of Okinawa (Ryukyu) dating from the Edo era. The piece is 6 by 7 by 9 inches (15 x 18 x 23 cm). There is a chip in the finial, and chips to four of the roof suppots. This is from a collection of scholar items we are currently offering from the estate of a Kyoto family involved in literati and art movements from the later Edo period on.
