This is a beautifully executed plique-a-jour vase with overall floral motif defined by silver wires on a translucent sea-green ground. The vivid and pure enamel colors add to the jewel-like, iridescent quality of the piece. The enamel body is held by silver mounts marked “Silver.” This fine example of a very difficult Japanese cloisonné technique is in excellent condition.

Fine quality antique Japanese plique-a-jour cloisonne vase decorated with chrysanthemum flowers set against a celadon green cloud patterned cloison background. Taisho Period (circa 1920). Measures about 3 3/4"H x 3" diameter. Very good overall condition with no stress cracks. There is a small, exceptional quality restoration near the upper rim which is not visible to the eye.
