A nice little footed sake cup - the colors are more those of the Kutani palette or it could be am Imari piece. We date it to the late Meiji period to early Taisho - circa 1900-1925 - the wear on the foot might indicate an earlier date. The cup measures 2 1/4" high x 2 1/8" diameter at the top and 5/8" diameter at the base. It is in excellent condition.

The decoration on this vase is more in keeping with the work of Hichozan and is not typical of Koransha marked pieces. This vase is in excellent condition with few signs of wear and it measures 12" x 6". The red Koransha mark dates it about 1880.

A very nice and Koransha dish decorated in the simple style known in Japan as Wabi-Sabi. The design is that of two deer gamboling umder what appears to be a cherry tree in early blossom. The dish measures 7 ¾” diameter and is ¾” deep. It is in excellent condition and dates from the late Meiji period, circa 1885-1910. The orchid mark of the Koransha potters is on the bottom along with a firing spur - used to separate the pieces in the kiln to keep them from sticking to one another. ... Click for details

This is a beautiful Japanese plate from the Taisho period (1920s), decorated in Yokohama by one of the leading studios of the time. The decoration (mostly red, pink, black, light blue and gold) shows various musical instruments (sho, tsuzumi, taiko, koto . . .) used in "gagaku", the traditional Japanese court music dating back to the eighth century.

The size of Plate: 6" Dia x 1/2" High. It is very rare Japanese Ai-Kutani(blue and white kutani) Porcelain Plate. It is said Ai-Kutani but it was not made in Kutani area of Ishikawa prefecture, rather originally made in Arita area in 1660's, in the end of early Edo(Zenki-Edo). The plate is very finely made with fine quality porcelain which is very light weight. It has wonderful design of Japanese flower Ran(orchid) in the centr.
