This is an outstanding piece of Meiji Era Satsuma. It is a very large and superbly done vase. It measures 20 ½" tall and is 15" wide. The body of the this grand piece is done with swirling raised relief waves and white caps. Relief rock formations raise above these swirling waves. An array of large relief Koi in various sizes swim about the entire vase. The shoulder of the vase is done in a relief scarf shaped band with wide Greek Fret pattern. Japanese Meiji Period bell-shaped lidded Satsuma Jar finely decorated with nine panels over the top with samurai, boys, ladies, flowers, a landscape and butterflies, there are partly-raised Irises and a very detailed panoramic scene with attributes of Japanese life. The vase is signed by an artist.
The top of a lid has beautiful decorations, some in a shape of Maple leaves.
Serious collectors welcome.

Big and very finely painted Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma Vase with two big decorative shields, one depicts six samurai , and another panel depicts three samurai with katanas and naginatas, a water jar and a landscape on a background.
The background as well as the bottom of the vase have partly raised and partly gilded enamel.
The vase is signed by the artist.
It is 15 3/4" tall x 9" D.

Japanese Edo Period (first part 19th Century) magnificent gosu-blue Satsuma lidded Jar with complicated detailed designs over five panels over the center of each oval rim on the body of the Jar, signed by an artist.
The background of the Jar has multiple floral decorations as well as sides of a lid. The top of the lid depicts Tokugawa Family mon. The Jar is probably a presentation piece to that Royal Family.
The signature, Satsuma cross and a kokihan are on the bottom.
