A dazzling porcelain vase of globular form decorated with sculptural leafy
handles. Branches of delicate morning glories glide along the body, their
soft mauve and purple- glazed flowers translucent on the lustrous white
ground. The
vase is signed on the base both with the blue Koransha mark of FUKAGAWA as
well as
with the mark of MAKUZU KOZAN. This partnership is rare, indeed, and is a
must
for the serious ceramics collector.

A superb white studio porcelain vase of double-gourd form by the
Imperial Court Artist SEIFU YOHEI III(1851-1914). It is worked in
underglaze blue on a white lustrous ground. Luxuriant peonies in subtle
shades of blue wrap around its luscious shape, rising ho-o birds
(phoenix) with long tail feathers, visible on the reverse. The vase is
in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. The third
generation Seifu Yohei's carved signature is on the base. Tomobako.

body, a pair of rabbits quietly rest on a hillside mid gilt-detailed bamboo.
The rippling,
tenmoko glaze ,coveted for its fascinating green, red, brown and orange
colors,
serves as an exciting setting for these lovely creatures, so
delicately incised and raised.

Here is a lovely studio porcelain vase of globular form with everted rim -

subject and coloration remininscent of fine, Meiji Period cloisonne.
On its body, softly rendered egrets huddle together on a sea-green ground,
their delicate faces and elegant necks providing superb contrast to their
full,
round bodies. The vase is signed by the master, MAKUZU KOZAN ,on the

An outstanding stoneware vase of baluster shape with a formation of geese
encircling its delicate beige ground.
Heightened by the use of a subtle white slip, the geese, depicted through
fine abstract
brushwork, appear to glide through the still waters, leaving behind gentle
ripples. MAKUZU KOZAN signature on the base with tomobako. The vase

This is a rare and important pottery kogo (box) modeled in the
form of the chidori (sparrow), so beloved to the Japanese. This piece is
attributed to Nonomura Ninsei, the greatly influential
pottery
master, renowned for the beauty of his tea ceremony implements.
Characteristic
of Ninsei's style, this lovely piece is executed in a robust tenmoko
brown glaze,
accentuating its form. The kogo is in excellent condition with no chips,
cracks
or restoration.
