Two Foo Dogs with Pine tree flower and water fall scenery in three dimensional. Carving taking the 3/4 space of whole staghorn area which leave only 1/4 area on the back. A wonderful early Meiji period crab basket made from horn, with a cute crab trapped inside and a crayfish or lobster adorning the lid. This lovely sculpture dates to about the 1870's and is artistically well defined as an art piece to be enjoyed. It is in excellent condition with discernible damage. Size 4-1/4 including wood base.

A long bamboo incense case with dark wood lid carved exquisitely with blossoming lotus and calligraphy. The deteriorating leaves rise from the bottom, blossoms spreading their petals to the sun. Small reliquary, in the shape of a five-element stupa, gorinto, made of rock crystal. The stupa is built according to the Five Elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether). The turret of a lonely outpost rises from the mountain peak formed by this small Japanese scholar rock set into a hand carved wooden base and enclosed in a wooden box titled Ko jinkaku (Small Armored Tower). The stone is 7 inches (18 cm) tall, 5 x 3 inches (13 x 8 cm). It likely was put together in the early 20th century.
