Gandhara Buddha, 2-3rd Century
AD, gray Schist, attractive face with serene expression, with almond shaped eyes beneath crisply modeled arched brows, hair surmounted by a domed Ushnisha, H. 19cm x W. 10cm x D. 5cm, nice collector's item despite the fact that hands are missing, some damage to circular nimbus ring and at base ( caused while mounting).
A fine carved and painted marble sculpture of the Hindu deity Hanuman, the monkey god and hero of the Hindu epic, the Ramayana. He is holding his mace in one hand and the Sanjeevi Parvatham in the other. From northern India, mid 19th century.
7 inches (17.7cm) high, 3.5/8 inches (9.2cm) wide. Perfect condition. For this genre the sculpture is in unusually good condition, most are found badly broken.

Details: A nice example of a Southern Indian bronze figure of the Goddess Meenakshi accompanied by a small consort. She is supporting a parrot on her left wrist and her long hair is up, arranged in a large bun atop the back of her head. She has shapely hips and legs which are covered by a heavily pleated dhoti.

Details: A delightful example of a Gandhara stucco head of the Buddha Sakyamuni. The Buddha has a meditative face with arched eyebrows over swollen heavy lidded eyes set above an aquiline nose and a broad well-modeled mouth. His hair is delicately arranged in layered rows over the usnisha which is partially damaged.
Details: An excellent example of a Gandhara sandstone head of a Bodhisattva, possibly Maitreya. His face carved with a serene expression, urna, heavy lidded eyes and a smiling mouth. He is wearing an elaborate headdress with floral rosettes woven in between his many beautifully carved curls.
Details: A lovely example of a miniature bronze figure of the divinity Ganesha from Southern India. In this image he has a large belly and four arms which are holding his attributes; a ball of sweetmeats, an elephant goad, a noose and his broken tusk. He is seated upon a circular cushion atop a square base. The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha is the Hindu god of knowledge and the remover of obstacles. A very fine quality Gandharan schist stone Bodhisattva Maitreya head. This is a superb example of a Gandharan 1st-3rd century Bodhisattva head carved from blue/green schist stone - rare to find in this excellent condition. Some slight remains of soil encrustation. Bronze statue of the Goddess Kali, 19th century Karnataka, India. The backing plate is removable and is probably of a later manufacture than the statue itself. In excellent condition with traces of vermilion pigment indicating this from a “home shrine” and used in daily “puja” ceremonies. 17.2cm/6.8in height with back and 11.5cm/4.5in height without.
Nandi, the sacred bull, is the mount of the god Shiva and represents strength, faith, and constancy in belief. Images of Nandi often sit directly outside a shrine to Shiva, facing the deity.
