Avalokitesvara depicted in the form of Sadaksari. 18th century. Very good bronze image with gilded face of the Bodhisattva of Compassion. This has an excellent worn polish on the surface and is well crafted. There are some tiny prayer scrolls inside the torso cavity indicating a high Monk or Lama has consecrated this image. A museum quality perspex stand is included.
This diminutive gilt bronze figure is just a tad less than 3 inches high! It is of fine quality manufacture, dating from the 18th century, and shows signs of being used devotionally. The face shows signs of wear, as does the gilding. It is cast in bronze with a high copper content, the exposed copper colour darkening in the few weeks that I have owned the bronze. Please ... 8/9th CE circa from Pakistani Kashmir. This item is extremely rare and came off a larger ensemble. Padmasambava who brought Buddhism to Tibet was said to have come from this area in the 7th century (Swat). Tibetan Buddhism dominated Baltistan and much of this area prior to the advent of Islam. This item was sourced in Karimabad in the Hunza Valley in 1998. Condition is as shown in photos and is mounted on museum standard plexiglass base. 6.3cm/2.4in height and 5cm/1.9in wide.

Abhaya is very pleased to offer this excellent late 18th century Tibetan Gilded Mahakala. In unusually good condition with no damage except for minor crease behind base, at rim. Very finely crafted it has superior workmanship throughout. The base plate I believe to be original, it appears to be reconsecrated as the “cold gold” and other facial pigments are recent.
