A very good late 19th - early 20th century Tibetan ewer, crafted of thin, hand-worked sheets of what is probably some type of brass/bronze amalgam that has acquired a rich chocolate patina over time, with deep repousse and chasing techniques forming the decorative bands along the shoulder, neck, and lid of vessel, a well-formed makara shaped spout and handle, all atop a splayed footed base. This 19th century Tibetan Buddhist Tantrayna ritual crown was worn by Tibetan lamas during empowerment ceremonies. The five panels that form the crown are painted and gilded with images of Tantric yidams, teachers of the Tantric principles of the path to enlightenment. The yidams are depicted with yogini, their female partners. Five silk ribbons on each side of the crown hang from an embroidered emblem. The tripartite iron blade is emerging from the jaws of a ferocious makara with the grip shaped as a vajra flanked by a pair of endless knots rising to a three faced Hayagriva pommel surmounted by a half vajra finial.

Small antique Tibetan cup carved of one piece of ivory, the inside of the cup is lined with silver, either side is decorated with a design made of silver with details of turquoise and coral, time has turned the ivory to a beautiful deep yellow-orange color, silver has oxidized with time, 19th century.
