A patinated, heavy cast bronze image of the Hindu god Indra seated in the position of royal ease. Indra holds a lotus flower in the left hand.The vertical, third eye indicates his divine status. Nepal, late 19th cent. to early 20th cent. H 15 cm. Condition: Good.

Mahamayuri (the great daughter of the peacock) is one of the Maharaksas (protective goddesses). She is the female emanation of Amoghasiddhi. The Mahamayuri vidyarajni is dedicated to her (the realisation of enlightment within this lifetime through the great seal, embodied by the female wisdom aspect - Kagyu tradition). Tibet, 18/19th.century. Sealed and in very good condition. Height 30 cm. 21 cm. wide and 11 cm. deep.
