Dynamic painting of a dancing couple in mixed media on paper, mounted on silk coated board. Signed and dated lower left. Shiavax Chavda joined the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai in 1930. In 1935 he went to Europe, studied in England and France. In 1945 he had his first solo exhibition in Mumbai and then in Indonesia, Singapore, London, Paris and Switzerland. Old framing. Dimension: painting: c. 32 cm x 39 cm, Frame 41 cm x 51 cm. Condition: fine, frame with small losses.

Old Kalaga from Myanmar (now Burma) featuring an unusual but colorful bird. The kalaga is embroidered with a combination of metallic and plain threads, sequins, beads and glass stones. Applied around the bird in a circle are glass-like stones that give the appearance of moonstones. In very good antique/vintage condition, it measures about 14.25 inches square. Circa 1950's or earlier.

A beautifully framed Tibetan collar necklace decorated with red coral, lapis lazuli, turquoise, silver and brass beads, and fresh water pearls. A multi colored glass bead finishes off each end of the ties. This necklace was made for a wealthy Tibetan woman to wear at festivals. The frame measures 17 inches high, 15" wide, 2" deep. The necklace measures about 8 inches at its widest point. Please note that the necklace was shot through glass.

Himalaya quartz carving of Jambhala, the deity of wealth in Tantric Buddhism. He holds a mongoose in his left hand, a fruit in his right and his right foot rests on a conch shell. Bi faced "ghurra" (churning rod holder) finely carved to represent a back to back, squatting, human couple, man opposite woman. Wood, with nice dark brown glossy patina. A fine Tibetan female dress “Chuba” made of woven purple silk with round, geometric pattern in black and floral scrolls. The garment can be fastened with 3 loop and 3 metal buttons and can close with front, right overflap. The lining is slightly patted and is made of turquoise fabric and bordered with golden brocade. Full length: 125 cm. Condition: minor wear due to use, but overall quite fine.

The god is shown in traditional fashion, with four arms and holding four symbolic items--a conch shell, lotus, wheel and mace. The decorative interior shutters have iron hinges, hasp and chain. Luscious all hand spun and woven with gold threads, panel from a vintage Varanasi, Indian wedding sari, circa 60 to 70 years old. I would describe the colors as pigeon blood ruby red with subtle gentian floral scrolls intermingled with the gold thread medallions, which I might add is made of genuine low karat gold metal. This is double backed on cotton and silk with a “raw” silk border and polyester end trims...
