Large mezzotint on thick paper showing Muhammad Ali Khan Nawab of Arcot and the Carnatic. 1771, published 1772. Size 63x40cm. This print was made after an oil painting by Francis Swain Ward of 1763. Pencil annotations at base. Crease upper right side, small margin tears. Can be viewed in central London and shipped worldwide. See the example in the Royal Collection Trust ref number RCIN 618757. I acquired these along with coins dating from 1st- 4th CE from the same site in North West Pakistan, so these can be dated no later than 1500 years old. There are a few agate and quartzite beads in the lot, some with traces of “etching”. The crescent shaped beads would have originally small ringed shaped ornaments that have been drilled and “knapped” to some extent to accommodate them being strung...
