This is a Nepalese illuminated manuscript, dating to circa the 18/19th century. Done in the customary "accordion" format, the book features a large multi-armed Goddess (probably Durga or Kali), with multiple attendant figures. The illuminated area measures 8-1/2" X 11-1/2" and occupies three panels of the manuscript. The reverse side consists of handwritten text (Devanagari? Sanskrit?), the whole on thickened yellow paper...

18thC Fierce Deity in Yab Yum, with cast mark (worn). Measures 6 7/16" tall. The expressiveness of the main figure, especially the look in his eyes, is very powerful and intense. A beautifully cast bronze miniature cannon with exceptional patina. Each end of the piece has a finely depicted feline head. I date the piece conservatively to the early 19th century, although I believe it to be earlier. The piece measures some 5-1/2" in length and is in exceptional condition.

Two very playful Southeast Asian panthers skillfully carved from red palm wood. They can be displayed on any one of 3 sides and look as thought they were designed to be viewed in whatever position you place them. The wood is heavy and dense feeling very much like a hardwood and weighs about 3 lbs. In excellent vintage condition, they measure 9.5 inches long by 5 inches high. Dates 20th century.
