A chinese stand for a vase or a bowl made from a wooden base which has been covered with a brown lacquer and gilded.

I am not able to date this accurately but my best guess would be c.1900-20. It measures 5 7/8inches overall and 2 3/4inches high. The interior rim is 3 3/4inches (9.6 cms).

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese export cinnabar box dating from 1900 – 1920 with a nicely carved scene of scholars and a maiden in a garden setting with rock outcroppings. The interior is covered with black lacquer and the age can be seen in the crazing. On the bottom the word “CHINA” has been hand etched into the surface. There are chips or cracks on several corners; otherwise in good overall condition. DIMENSIONS: 5 5/8” long (14.3 cm) x 3 ¾” wide (9.5 cm) x 1 ¾” high (4.5 cm).
