A set of three Rose Medallion shallow bowls designed with four large
foliate-
shaped cartouches of alternating scenes of Chinese royalty and birds, peony,
leaves and butterflies on a white porcelain ground. Enclosing
each cartouche and a central rondel of birds and flowers, green scrollwork
and rose-hued flowers reside on a rich gilt ground.
These plates are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or
restoration.

This is a marvelous Mandarin porcelain cider jug with twisted handle and
gilt foo dog on its lid. Butterflies among peonies and chrysanthemums on a
gilt ground decorate the borders along the cover and neck. Encircling the
pot's celadon ground, a majestic scene of courtly life shows an interior
with royalty and attendants richly garbed, the exterior enhanced by a rich
visual of leafy boughs and flowers.

This is a lovely rare-form Mandarin porcelain creamer with scalloped rim
and shaped handle. Its border, modeled in relief with gilt details,
contains traditional elements from the"Hundred Antiques" -scholars'
objects and double fish, the latter symbolic of conjugal felicity.
The pastel-hued enamels, characteristic of Mandarin porcelain, are
richly hued and illustrate imagery with royal figures and scenes typical of
this ware.

This well-published famille rose design appears more attractive in reality. Or perhaps it is its diminutive size; side plates are not often encountered and the smaller diameter seems to exaggerate the complexity and richness of the design. Made specifically for export to the West during the Qianlong period, mid eighteenth century.

For sale by auction: a selection of Yongzheng Armorial porcelain from the Godfrey family, direct descendants of Peter Godfrey, chairman of the Court of Directors of the East India Company in 1759, who it is believed commssioned these pieces in c. 1725.

A Chinese silver card case decorated in repousse and engraved high relief technique showing finely detailed writhing dragons against a hammered background with a vacant central shield.The reverse, also in high relief is a picture of tranquility: two birds and a flowering prunus tree.On the inner lip, there are stamped Roman letters and Chinese characters, the latter reading "Rui Ji". Consisting of two items, a covered teacup and a saucer, the teacup decorated with bands of flowers on the rims of the cup and the cover, the
saucer with openwork design of floating dragons among clouds, with stamped marks of the silversmith on the bottoms of the cup and the saucer.
A nice quality dressing table mirror in European form, the shield-shaped back boldly engraved with a writhing dragon. Within the coiled dragon is a shield cartouche lightly engraved with the initials DRM. The glass is the original bevelled mirror. On the side there are three maker’s hallmarks. Probably dates from around 1900.

DESCRIPTION: A fantastic pair of large famille rose Chinese porcelain figures of an emperor and empress seated on matching thrones. Each figure is adorned with brightly enameled robes and hats, and both have very delicate long fingers.
