c. 1890 Chinese export solid silver belt. The buckle decorated with carved bird, flower and stars. The belt is composed of linked panels carved with flying fishes in Chinese meaning of good fortune. 35 inches long with 22 links plus the oval buckle. Signed mark on the back of the buckle. Very good condition with no damage. Polished. Nice collection item can still be in nice wear. Weight: 122 g.
DESCRIPTION: A Chinese export cinnabar box dating from 1900 – 1920 with a nicely carved scene of scholars and a maiden in a garden setting with rock outcroppings. The interior is covered with black lacquer and the age can be seen in the crazing. On the bottom the word “CHINA” has been hand etched into the surface. There are chips or cracks on several corners; otherwise in good overall condition. DIMENSIONS: 5 5/8” long (14.3 cm) x 3 ¾” wide (9.5 cm) x 1 ¾” high (4.5 cm).
