Antique chinese black dragon and phoenix roundel robe on dark navy ground. Roundels embroidered with gold phoenix and dragon writhing over clouds and waves. Sliver and gold thread with red and green couching stitches. Roundels are appliqued on. On the back of the robe there is peach and jewels and the wheel of life on large back panel. Small overall wear and discoloration. 40" long x 62" sleeve to sleeve. Republic period. Circa 1900-1920s.

A large and very rare Chinese wedding purse, this unique purse displays colorful Peking forbidden stitch done in patterns displaying various treasures. The inside is of a subtle lavender, while the outside is creme colored with slightly raise geometric designs. This clearly dates it to the early 20's. A bonus feature is fine woven solid silver wire (Not silver wrap) that adorns the sides and has two handles for ease of handling. Condition is excellent with just a very few minor loose threads....
