An attractive Chinese silk purse probably imperial from the imperial workshop. The bag in a shape of vase which means "Ping An" (peace and secure), worked on blue satin with colorful knotstitch and gold and silver wire, and both sides embroidered with flowers and butterfly, implicated the meaning of growth and transform. Each silk tassel is showing Chinese character "Shou" (longivity). Beautiful color combination.

Antique Chinese silk embroidered purse from the Qing Dynasty. The kidney shaped purse was made from yellow color silk satin ground and embroidered with silk thread using the satin stitch.

A charming and complete Chinese embroidered fan case dated to 19th century with the original handle attached. On both sides hand embroidered with two scenes on the different silk background. Chinese landscape on one side and three crabs and a flying bee on the other side, showing the pleasures of life.

A rare find! Embroidered silk Purse from Ming dynasty. Both sides of the purse show an ancient story. One side showing a boy riding cloud waving a Taoist duster coming down from sky, while a lady holding a fan sitting on an elegant bamboo chair; in front, a table with Taichi symbol at the center under a a very fine house with beautiful flowers behind it. A pair of beautiful embroidered Chinese old purse in black silk, dated to Qing period, with gold thread wire embroidery of Kilin animals on both sides, and satin stitch embroidery of phoenix and oter objects on both sides as well. Original handle with tassel.

Condition: Very good condition with no stains or tears. Minor loose thread. Size: 6"(wide) x 5.5"(long) or 15.25cm x 13.9cm.

DESCRIPTION: A beautiful Yi minority tribe batik jacket and vest, originating from Yunnan Province. This special jacket would have been made by a bride to present to the groom on their wedding day, and then saved for festival wear. For this creation, hot wax was applied to the thick cloth in geometric designs consisting of a background of “wheels” edged in wide linear borders. A fabulous piece of black satin silk embroidered with seed pearls to create 2 bouquets and 3 individual flowers. This was custom made mid 20th Century Chinese and has about 2,000 seed pearls which are individually hand sewn. There are 3 sizes of small pearls in two different shades, two are a silvery dark grey/black color and the third is a medium black. The shape of these bound foot shoes, with their very pointed toes and high curved instep, identifies their origin as North China. Their length, six inches, identifies their approximate age as early 20th century. Older golden lotus shoes, as they were called, usually were several inches shorter.
