The bubbly clear ground overlaid in blue and carved in relief on one side with a drunk scholar sleeping under the palm tree; The reverse with a scholar and his attendant sailing on a sampan in the lotus pond. DESCRIPTION: A wonderful and rare antique Chinese bamboo snuff bottle of flattened ovoid form with pewter cap and raised oval foot. Made of two sections of perfectly matched bamboo, it has been expertly joined so that the seams are almost invisible. With lovely patina and in excellent condition, this bottle dates from the 19th century, Qing Dynasty. DIMENSIONS: 2¾” high (7 cm) x 2” wide (5.1 cm).
