DESCRIPTION: A Chinese snuff bottle of vibrant, transparent sapphire-blue glass in flattened rectangular form with rounded shoulders and footed base. Excellent condition with a double-beaded cap; early to mid 19th C., Qing Dynasty. DIMENSIONS: 2 7/8” high (7.3 cm).
DESCRIPTION: A lovely carved ivory snuff bottle in flattened spade form, each side with a shaped cartouche containing carved peonies in full bloom, symbolic in China of good fortune and honor. The base is supported by a raised foot, and the ivory cap is original to the bottle. Excellent condition, C. 1900 – 1920 (late Qing, Early Republic). DIMENSIONS: 2 ½” high (6.4 cm) x 2” wide (5 cm).
DESCRIPTION: A celadon jade snuff bottle in ovoid form, carved on one side with a clump of bamboo, the other with water lotus. Several naturally occurring dark inclusions have been cleverly worked into the design. The bottle is nicely hollowed inside and it is capped with a bright green jadeite stopper. Excellent condition, 19th C. DIMENSIONS: 2 ¼” high (5.8 cm).
DESCRIPTION: A plump jade snuff bottle in ovoid form, fashioned from a white stone that fades to shades of light green in places. The bottle rests on a raised foot, and on each side a mask is carved. Well hollowed, this larger size bottle would have held a quantity of snuff. Dating from the late 19th to early 20th C., it is finished with a white jade cap. DIMENSIONS: 3” high (7.6 cm) x 2” wide (5 cm).
DESCRIPTION: A simple but elegant green nephrite jade snuff bottle in a tapering rectangular form, late 19th century. The stone is a beautiful celadon color on one side that fades to a darker green on the other, and the bottle is crowned with a tiger-eye stopper. Very good original condition. DESCRIPTION: A finely painted Chinese glass snuff bottle in flattened rectangular form, each side featuring a lohan (a Buddhist disciple) in landscape settings, one with a crouching dragon and the other with a playful foo lion. Above each lohan is a poem in fine calligraphy with red seal marks. Aventurine stopper, in excellent condition, early 20th C. DIMENSIONS: 3 ¼” high (8.3 cm).
DESCRIPTION: A very well carved and captivating Chinese figural snuff bottle of a woman seated sideways on a woolly-coated goat. The woman’s clothes are delicately polychromed in pinks and blues, and she carries a ruyi in her hands. Similarly colored is the plump goat’s elaborate saddle blanket, and his fine head is turned toward the front. The woman’s head cleverly forms the removable stopper. 2.5/8 inches (6.7cm) high. Fine overall condition with only a ‘bruise’ line on the edge of the unglazed foot-rim. The turquoise is less strong than my photographs suggest.

An amber-colored snuff bottle has carvings of eight fish, auspicious Chinese symbols of wealth, abundance, freedom and harmony. Four fish swim on one side below calligraphy incised on a shoulder of the bottle; four fish on the other side swim among lotus plants, emblems of fruitfulness.
