This is a smallish Chinese bronze “GU” form – with totally plain simple design. The piece measures 4 Ύ” high and is 4” diameter at the top. It is in very good shape – fine patina – one ½” crack in the bottom rim. We date the piece to the late Qing dynasty, circa 1850-1880s.

We believe this to be a Chinese toggle made of bronze. This one is an elongated shape with the head cast in the form of a dragon's head. It then tapers down to a point and could possibly have been used as a letter opener by the owner.

A hardwood (appears to be one of the darker varieties of the rosewood family) sculpture of Damo, also known as Bodhidarma, the founder of Chinese Chan Buddhism and Japanese Zen Buddhism.
