DESCRIPTION: A handsome Chinese smoking pipe with finely turned bamboo stem, bulbous bowl with brass-tipped knobs and turned ivory mouthpiece. Excellent condition, and a wonderful example of Chinese folk art; Qing Dynasty, early to mid 19th C. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Shanghai French expat Jean-Philippe Weber, whose collection has been featured prominently in the book, “China Style” by Sharon Leece. DIMENSIONS: 13 ½” long (34.3 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese shou shan stone (soap stone) seal, the knob carved with a figure of a monkey curled and crouched on a high rectangular base, the base inscribed with various scenes. On the front facing side is a seated man gazing at a circle with a two character inscription. The bottom of the seal is not carved. Very good condition, 19th C. DIMENSIONS: 3 ¼” high (8.3 cm) x 1” square (2.5 cm).
