This cup is well carved in the form of a citron tree trunk with reticulated branches and leaves. On each side is carved a Buddha hand fruit, named for its obvious resemblance to the Buddha’s hands in prayer. DESCRIPTION: An exquisite Chinese table screen, elaborately carved with a mounted jade bi on one side and an inscription on the reverse. Stands such as these were custom made to display specific precious jade artifacts, with this bi most likely dating from the Neolithic Period (5,000 to 2,000 BC). DESCRIPTION: An attractive heart-shaped scholar’s calligraphy box of solid brass that includes an ink stone within the inner lid. DESCRIPTION: A dark rosewood stationary box, the lid pierced and well carved with a pair of confronting dragons against a background of seven more dragons, all chasing pearls in a tumultuous sea. Dating from the early 20th C. (most likely early Republic Period), this handsome footed box has beveled-edges on the top and beaded edges on the sides. In excellent condition with nice weight to it. Three extremely rare genuine red coral scholar objects; we believe that the birds of paradise were apart of a thematic composition that once adorned a scholars table.
