Likely dating to the later Muromachi period (1336-1573) this ancient ink portrait of the Bodhidharma bears an enlightened and highly compelling expression.

DESCRIPTION: A Qing Dynasty Chinese scroll depicting a plethora of Chinese deities, each in colorful robes of blue, green, yellow and red, and each with an aurora around his head. The deities display different symbols or attributes that identify them to the knowledgeable follower. The artist’s inscription can be found between the two lower left figures.
DESCRIPTION: A pair of Chinese ink and watercolor paintings, each featuring a pair of swimming or jumping carp. These paintings are quite old, dating from the 18th century Qing Dynasty, and are preserved with conservation mats and beautifully framed in gilded faux bamboo. Each has an inscription in Chinese characters and is signed with the artist’s red seal mark.

DESCRIPTION: A colorful autumn scroll with a delightful scene featuring two finches perched on a banana leaf above three large, very showy chrysanthemum blooms. This scroll, a virtual celebration of summer’s end, has been professionally mounted in an attractive faux-bamboo frame using acid-free papers and mats. DESCRIPTION: An exceptional and large Chinese scroll painting featuring the mythical phoenix standing on a large limb of the wu-tung tree surrounded by pairs of birds. The phoenix seems to stand guard while it displays beautifully colored plumage and a luxurious flowing tail. Under the watchful eye of the phoenix are pairs of birds, including cranes, ducks and two pair of swallows.
