A very nice small Peking Glass brush washer in an invert rim style. The Bowl measures 3 3/8” diameter at its widest by 2 ¼” high and is in excellent condition. The Cameo Cased glass design is executed in a dark blue overlay glass over a dark pink under layer as its base. The design features two scholars under a pine tree with a column of smoke between them – another side has large palm fronds – as we turn the bowl further it shows a large hut. It is currently the Chinese Year of the Rat – but why settle for an object that only has one of the twelve zodiac animals. This is a 20th century Peking glass brush holder used by scholars for calligraphy and paintings and had all twelve of the animals on it. The body of the brush is a light lavender color and the overlayed layer is a royal blue. The blue overlay has been cut to make a design of the twelve Chinese animals of the zodiac. Qing Dynasty (19th century)
Of the usual form, the lamp is carved from pink and clear glass and comprises three parts; a central bowl decorated with a band of key-fret set into a flat pierced stand raised on four feet carved in the form of bats. A large bell cut to the top sits over the ball, resting on the stand.

Carved in fairly high relief with a continuous design of stylized sprigs, foliage and lotus blossom, the very well-formed foot cased in red, it is a perfect example of the quality of the carving on glass reached during the reign of Emperor Qianlong.

A very fine Chinese Peking glass vase of double gourd form - with a base ground color of a marbleized off white/grey color with tannish streaks. On top of that rare coloration, there is a very beautifully executed overlay of translucent medium blue glass carved in the form of flowering vines that encircle the top and bottom bulbs of the double gourd form.
