A multi color glass overlay snuff bottle – green, red, blue, purple and pink – two fish swimming amongst various colored sea plants – the green on the bottom carved into waves design – no stopper – measures 2 1/8" tall by 1 1/4" wide at the widest by 7/8" thick – excellent condition. This bottle probably dates from the early to mid 20th century – it does not have the sharp, crisp edges that are characteristic of the 18th and 19th century overlay bottles. Nonetheless, is has considerable charm.

A flattened ovoid single overlay snuff bottle on a fine raised oval foot. The dark mint green grainy glass ground body has a single overlay of dark red that has been expertly carved on both sides with a stylized open peony flower. The dark red against the dark mint green makes the overlay color look almost purple, however seen against a light it is clearly red. A fine Chinese glass overlay snuff bottle with the top layer a dark purple glass over a clear glass base. The purple overlay has been carved into The Eight Emblems of the Taoist Immortals - the fan,
