This is a fine early to mid 20th century Peking Glass vase with an opaque milk white ground and beautiful cobalt blue flowers and butterflies in the cameo cut overlay.
Earlier examples of Peking glass had more variegated glasses as the base color. The earlier pieces also showed signs of hand carving of the second layer which left the edges of the design softer. 18th Century. Ching Dynasty, Ch’ien-lung period. This small, thinly carved and semi-translucent, twelve-sided, soft-yellow colored ‘Peking’ glass bowl is superlative among small, undecorated Peking glass vessels of its type. While it bears no inscription or reign mark, it is very likely a product of the Zaobanchu (imperial workshops), or from Boshan in Shandong Province which works often exceed imperial wares, especially in the remarkable thinness of their carving. In either instance, it is ... Click for details
This is a very sweet small Peking glass bud vase from the mid 20th century, circa 1950s-1970s. The base glass is a milky white opaque glass - there is then an applied royal blue handle in the shape of an elongated leaf. The vase measures 6 1/8" high and is 3" diameter at its widest. A fine addition to any studio glass collection.
An imperial yellow, emerald green overlay Peking glass vase of exceptional artistic carvings of the phoenix, crane, florals and butterflies. There is even a pagoda and mountain suspended on a wave of clouds. The four character mark is done in seal script within a double cartouche square. Condition is excellent with a very small possible nick that was polished out at the mouth rim. I can not determine if this is natural or it is actually a polished out nick, it was too small to photograph. 18t... Click for details
