The polychrome-lacquered and gilt-painted figure seated in vajrasana with one hand held up in vitarka mudra and the other holding a vase in her lap, wearing an elaborate necklace and a crown, her hair in a double chignon.
China, Ming Dynasty, 17th. century.

A rare bombe form bronze censer with lion mask handles and with traces of gold-splashed decoration. The base carries the six-character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later, probably during the late 16th or early 17th Century. This censer is from the collection of a British architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai. It came to the UK with him in 1931. A twin-handled bronze censer. The base carries the six character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later, possibly during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). This censer is from the collection of a British architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai. It came to the UK with him in 1931. The body of this four-piece censer with two open-worked panels containing respectively a dragon and a kylin amongst clouds, the handles in the shape of branches with citrus fruits (Buddha's hands), the open-worked lid with a moontoad on clouds, the ornate feet with a squirrel eating a nut on opposite sides, the stand with an open-worked shou-character in the middle.
China, Qing Dynasty, 18th.-19th. century.

Chinese transitional bronze incense burner of compressed, bombe, circular form flanked with two lion-head handles resting on the girth below the waisted rim. Raised on short, splayed, ring foot surrounding a sunken-relief apocryphal six character Xuande mark. Condition is fair.
