A finely carved cinnabar lacquer vase, decorated with figures and pagodas in a mountain landscape. The inside and bottom of the vase with blue enamel. H. 21 cm. Condition: several dents to the mouth and foot, pieces of lacquer missing. Please refer to the pictures. China, 19th century.

Chinese black and red cinnabar box. The overall red lacquer base (over wood) has the endless meander pattern. The black lacquer on the top has carved flowers and rocks. The black lacquer pattern of the sides is carved scrolling vines and flowers. Box is in excellent condition. The size is 1-3/4” H x 4-1/4” W x 2-1/4” D; and weighs 5 oz.

Often referred to as green cinnabar is this very dark green Chinese lacquer box carved in a pattern known as a thousand flowers. Dating 1850-1880's, the carving is intricate and deep. From the private collection of David (d.) and Renate Shang, this is a welcome addition to any Chinese cinnabar collection. The word "China" is etched on the bottom and was done after the box was made. In very good condition, it measures 4” x 4” x 2” (10.2 cm x 10.2 cm x 5.1 cm). Marked CHINA
