DESCRIPTION: A nicely carved pair of bamboo wall plaques, each with a depiction of Sao-Ts’ing Niang, the goddess of the clouds and end of drought. Here she stands amongst the clouds with a flower basket from which tumbles flowers and fruit to the earth. Each has an iron hanger and are in very good condition with minor scuffs; these probably date from the early 20th C. DIMENSIONS: Each is 29 ¼” long (74.3 cm) not including hanger x 6” wide (15.2 cm).

This traditional Chinese wedding basket, made of light-weight wood, has 25 different black and gold vignettes of Qing Dynasty life painted on its octagonal trays and lid. The tall black bent willow handle is wrapped in bamboo strips woven into a black-accented pattern. DESCRIPTION: An attractive rice (or dry goods) storage barrel with a lacquered red ground containing four black cartouches hand painted with gold flowers and precious objects. This lidded pine barrel, c. 1900 Qing Dynasty, originated from Anhui Province and is in very good condition. Such barrels make quite attractive accessories for the home or office.
