Exceedingly rare Liao Dynasty (967CE – 1125CE) peony shaped bowl stand with clear green tinted glaze. Liao ceramics are often problematic in identifying because of the often shifting and porous political boundaries in Northern China at the time as well as the fact that Han trade items were found in Liao tombs. Having said this, this piece is typically Liao in terms of the coarse high fired clay and light olive tone to the glaze. Very unique is the large size of this piece and rolled fo... Click for details

Rare large Yuan Dynasty celadon vase (or jar). The neck has been cut and ground down so it is difficult to tell its original function but the shape is very eclectic, and the color of the glaze on top is a lovely green with an almost Guanyao type cracalature. Aside from the neck being “shortened” there are a couple of near invisible hairlines running from the mouth. H: 19cm/7.5in and D: 19.5cm/7.7in.

This is a Northern Ming celadon dish with a very faintly impressed design of a bird in the center. The top and most of the bottom are glazed in a thick celadon glaze whilst the bottom is mainly unglazed with some spill over of the glaze. The dish measures 7 5/8” diameter and is 1 ¾” deep. The celadon glaze has a crackle finish. It is in excellent condition – one tiny ½” long area on the rim where the glaze did not take. There are two very small brown dots that are firing flaws. We believe it dat... Click for details

Outstanding Southern Song, Jian ware (possibly from the Wuyi Shan kiln) Fujian tea bowl with a near black body and glaze. There is one tiny and shallow undetectable chip on the rim but have not been able to find it since having it repaired, and some spots where the glaze did not adhere during firing. There are feint “ghost” traces of lacquer as may best be observed in the center of cavetto in last enlargement as “spots” as well as lines radiating from the center in places emulating h... Fine and rare white stoneware box with grayish green translucent glaze. The shape and overall style (inverted wall on the bottom half and absence of a footrim) suggest a Tang to Five Dynasties dating but the thick walls and “feel” to the glaze indicates a later manufacture, - some sources would consider this a Ding type. Except for the base and inner mouthrims this piece is completely glazed and in perfect condition aside from a couple of tiny chips on the lower inverted “lip” of the m... Click for details

Fine and rare stemmed censer with semi opaque slightly greenish hued off white glaze- circa Song or Jin Dynasties, my best guess this from a Shaanxi or Hebei kiln. Possibly this a Qingbai but the thick even glaze and robustly potted body suggest otherwise. Perfect condition! H: 7cm/2.8in and D: 13cm/5.1in.

Chinese Qing olive-brown glazed hexagonal form stoneware teapot decorated with relief figural, animal, and floral panels. The cover has a foo dog finial. The body of the base and interior are unglazed. The teapot was molded in two vertical sections which join at the sides of the handle and spout. There are traces of sand grit at the top of the mouth and one tiny chip reveals a pale gray or buff colored body beneath the brown slip. 19th century. 6 ½” high x about 6” (tip of spout to tip of ...
