DESCRIPTION: An extraordinary early 19th C. Chinese ivory vase, meticulously carved with stunning scenes of beautiful court ladies in garden settings. The vase has a slender rhomboid body with an elongated shoulder on which we see side handles shaped as Qilong dragons holding rings. A skillful variety of carving techniques is demonstrated, including reticulation, chase work and high relief carving in various floral and ornamental decorations.
