A Chinese ivory chess and draughts (checkers) set combo in the form of discs , carved on one side with chess men's faces and on the reverse with floral design. It comes with its original shakers and dice and is a good compact set. size; 2.7 cm ( diameter of the discs) and 5.8 cm ( height of the shakers). Age; C. 1900. condition: very good, one disc with a small crack and damage to the pierced ring. As seen in the image. We can obtain CITES EXPORT LICENCE, if necessary 2/3 weeks.

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese ivory carving of two lovely maidens, one holding a musical instrument protected in a cloth bag, the other leaning on a rock wall with a bird ornament in her hair. Very good condition, no repairs or losses. The age is seen from the darker back side which has had less light exposure; dating from latter Qing Dynasty, 1890 - 1910. DIMENSIONS: 8” high including rectangular stand; 6 ¾” high without stand. Stand is 5” long (12.7 cm).

From a private collection since 1949, a large Chinese and intricately done ivory carving. About 16" high with great details of 3 maidens playing instrument. A boy and animals enjoying the melody of their music. Looks like a scene in the garden of Si Wang Mu (Daoism deity). This lovely piece was acquired in China by the owner in 1949 and was kept in the silk box ever since. Condition is teriffic. No damage. It comes with original silk box.
