Very Rare Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Figure
This is one of a group of four similar figures we bought back in the early 1990's that we have not previously offered for sale. It is porcelain yet very "heavily-potted" with all the details individually carved as opposed to moulded. The face has been coated with a translucent green Qingbai glaze. There are also splashes of glaze elsewhere on the figure.

This outstanding pottery model of a striding horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in white with the details picked out in red pigment.
