Neolithic nephrite jade “jue” shaped ornament, beveled on one side with contemporary 14k gold mounting. This piece was purchased in Hanoi, Vietnam although conventional wisdom would place this as to the iron age Dong Son culture due to its location of origin, this style is documented as being from South East China circa 3500 BCE- 2500 BCE in Chinese Jade by Jessica Rawson which would have included most of Vietnam at the time (sometimes this is referred to as the Han-Viet period). Fine and rare off white nephrite jade “curtain weight”. The Tang attribution is very conservative as this shape of jade has been recorded back as far as the Warring States Period (475BCE- 221BCE). Since there is no carving on it I have given it a later dating. This piece is very evenly cut at sharp angles and is polished on all sides. The condition is quite good with only a few tiny calcified “flea bites” in the stone. It has a holed drilled through the center and may be worn as a pe... Click for details
Ensemble of ten Chinese antique beads, the most valuable being the tapered tubular beads which date to circa Han Dynasty, also included in the set is a turquoise, amber, abstract gourd shaped carnelian, malachite, two round banded agates and a polished hard nut of some sort. I bought these in a village near Erhai Lake in Yunnan. Please note in enlargement three there are two “eyes” on this bead, which for some reason are most highly prized by Asian bead collectors (but don’t ask me why... Click for details

A medium gray to light celadon nephrite jade archers ring with rust colored highlights dating from no later than the late Qing Dynasty, circa 1840-1900. It could well be much older. The ring measures 1 1/16" outside diameter and is 15/16" diameter inside diameter (that translates to 12 1/2 USA ring size) – it is 1" high. Excellent condition with several of the expected minor chips on the rim and stunning colo... Click for details
