A small bronze mirror with a band of calligraphy within hatched borders. The patina is grey green, still reflective but shows some encrustation. A similar mirror is illustrated in the Faber publication by William Watson, ‘Ancient Chinese Bronzes’. 1st century A.D.
Exceptionally fine bronze halberd Ge circa Warring States 475 -221 BCE. This piece is in outstanding condition, the bronze is shows very little corrosion and the edge is still lethally sharp. Included is a custom made padded box. L: 17cm/6.2in and H: 9cm/3.5in.
Fine bronze, crossbow mechanism, in two parts. That particular style was one of the first crossbow styles invented and mounted directly into the wooden frame. It wasn't until much later that the entire mechanism was created in bronze and thereby made much stronger. This one is far more more rare than Han period mechanism.
Superb condition and patina. L: 9.8cm/3.9in.

The white bronze eight-foiled mirror is simply decorated with a large dragon in motion, and flower patterns; together with a museum-style armature stand (not illustrated).

Modeled in the form of the dragon-carp, based on the legend of the carp which leaps the Dragon Gate Falls in Henan province and transforms into the dragon. The dragon-carp is given to civil service candidates to wish them success. The figure is mounted on a later silver stand.

Of conical form raised on a stem-foot decorated in openwork with facing chi dragons, the cover also decorated in openwork to form a mountain with human figures and various animals including tigers and bears. The surface is overall covered with a green patina.

The vessel is raised on three hoof-shaped legs and flanked on each side with two large handles. The main body is undecorated, except for a simple band with braided design. The same design is repeated twice on the fitted cover.
