Fine amber “sancai” type Gangwa Ware vase from the non Chinese Liao Dynasty, which paralled the Han Chinese 5 Dynasties and Northern Song. Excellent original condition, please note that the random spots of missing glaze on the body happened during firing in the kiln and is perfectly normal and “of the period” for these pieces. ~~~SOLD~~~

AN OVOID BOTTLE WITH RUSSET GLAZE, JIN DYNASTY, 12TH ~ 13TH CENTURY.

Classic wine bottle with flanged neck, decorated with two stylised birds in flight. The contrast between the iron-oxide decoration and glaze is not pronounced as the bottle has fired to an attractive russet hue, a rarity in itself. The unglazed foot exposes a light and coarse body that indicates that this bottle comes from one of the Cizhou ... Click for details

~~~SOLD~~~
A GOOD CHINESE QINGBAI BOWL, SONG DYNASTY, 10TH ~ 12TH CENTURY.
This is a museum quality bowl moulded with phoenix and flowers within a liewen border. Thin porcelains were difficult to fire without distortion and the potters overcame this by firing the bowl on its unglazed mouth rim. The glaze is also known as ying-ching, shadow blue, and with this ware colour is almost everything. This example exhibits a pale icy b... Click for details
Majiayao, Machang phase circa late 3000.BCE neolithic pottery basin. Usually I try to not go over the top with hyperbole in descriptions when listing an item, but to say this is “museum quality” is an understatement. Although a few pieces (usually jars) have this abstract anthropomorphic design on the outside this is the only one I have seen that has it painted on the inside of a ceramic vessel. Given that the basin is slightly contracted at the bottom yet the figure still appears in proportion ... Click for details
Very Rare Ancient Chinese Zhou Dynasty Pottery Animal - This very rare heavy pottery animal was made during the Zhou Dynasty (1027 - 256 BC). It is made from fairly high-fired dark grey earthenware and has been individually sculpted. Exactly what animal it represents is open to interpretation but its crudeness has a certain charm about it. This is the first time we have been able to obtain an object such as this. Length 20 cm (8 inches). Although the end of one ear has been lost there are no r... Click for details
