The theme of this very rare screen traces the story of the great battle of Yashima, in the 12th century, between the Taira and Minamoto clans. The monkey is shown holding a giant peach branch with its right hand, with a strong expression of satisfaction on its face. Nice old Lahu bamboo woven basket (there is some rattan used in the bindings), from the Golden Triangle region in Northern Thailand. This is a genuine ethnic/tribal piece and not made for the tourist trade. There is a carrying strap that comes with this but it is not woven into the basket itself. The basket is in excellent condition while the strap has some brittleness where it folds. H: 22cm/8.5in and D: 23cm/9in.

from 1970's to 1980's about 50 years old
vintage Okimono. It has flowers, butterfly and ribbon on neck design.
The Dog is made from crackle glazing semi porcelain body.
Bottom of Dog Okimono has some kind stain. It has four felt circles,
preventing scratch when placing on the wooden top.
The condition of dog excellent. No crack, no hairline and no damage...

Pair of Tiele (Chinese Ironwood) Weiqi boxes, carved from solid wood. Vivid yellow streaked with glassy Oribe green glaze highlights the sculpted middle of this exquisite covered jar by important artist Hayashi Shotaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Oribe Mizusashi. Covered vase in nuanced ocher jade, decorated in relief with a grinding wheel with Taotie masks. Very good quality of sculpture. The stone is probably fire-patinated to imitate the color of archaic jade as was usually the case in the Ming Dynasty. It is impossible for me to date such an object. It is old, probably from the 18th century but could be earlier. Good condition, except for a few dents on the lid that can be seen on an enlarged photo. Height: 12cm.

Hard stone cup, probably Jadeite. The more or less pale nuanced ocher colored stone is stained with a pretty green and veined with rust. The cut is very thin which required good control. Uneven grinding and a soft sheen suggest that this cut is ancient, difficult to date with certainty. Chinese work from the 19th century or before. Size:85x68x15mm Good condition.

Seto Kuro Oribe (black oribe) kutsugata (shoe-shaped) chawan with a rounded brim, made in the late Edo Period around 1850. This rare type of tea bowl was made from light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay which contains some iron oxide and and a rich black glaze (made from ground up Kamagawa stones) which partially obscures the white designs on the side.
