Modeled with a slightly turned head and erect wings that touch at the tips, the body is enameled in a yellow ground with a pink bat and green scrolling vine motif, the lightly molded and naturalistically marked feathers in shades of blue and green. Large Chinese late Qing Guangxu period cylindrical form censer decorated in underglaze blue against a white porcelain ground with a faint blue-green tint with a pair of four-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl above waves. The interior is glazed while the base is unglazed. 7 1/2" high x 8" diameter. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small amount of staining to the interior.

$195.00 A kozuka with sea shell and seaweed decoration with gold and silver overlaid on shakudo (a pickled gold and copper alloy) nanako ('fish roe' textured ground.) The utility knife handle with filed gilt bronze sides and back. Slight bend and the nanako somewhat dented in places. Would present nicely enough with a sword fitted to hold a kozuka in the saya (scabbard.) Kogatana (utility blade) not included. Length, 3 3/4 inches.

The inside of the bowl has a gilt shou symbol (Chinese character for longevity), lined in red and surrounded by five red lucky bats. The outside of the bowl has a mille fleur style enamel with many multi-colored flowers and other plants over a black enamel background. Red Guangxu mark on bottom.

Ichimatsu - ningyo have been treasured for years as playthings and objects of beauty. This wonderful and excellent example of Ichimatsu-ningyo is very charming with great attention to detail. Fitted naturally dyed kimono is traditionally worn and the doll stands upon a hardwood stand. Lovely original condition.

already sold Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style (note the trimmed walls) make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls. The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured under which a decoration of a willow tree (yanagi) and a fence have been applied in iron oxide (oni ita).
